This blue-eyed beauty is near and dear. Ten years ago this month, I met her mother as I began my teaching career. Her mother welcomed me as her sixth grade colleague, and we grew to become a strong sixth grade team, and even stronger friends. This senior would have been 8 years old when I met her. (That makes me feel a wee bit old, but that’s OK.) Little did I know when I met this spunky little 8 year old, I would get the honor of taking her senior portraits.
Isn’t this field awesome?! She really wanted some photos in a field of flowers. Our main location for the photos was not in my neck of the woods, but it was for my aunt. My aunt scoped out the area for me, and found this simply amazing field! Thanks Aunt Deb! 🙂
Really?! Those blue eyes! I’m really trying hard not to be jealous…my willpower comes and goes.
The stories her mother has told me about how she has stood firm in her faith in Jesus are beyond moving. I remember in junior high when she began a prayer group at her school. I would never have had the courage to do something like that at an adolescent age. This past spring, she went to Kenya to work at the African Baby Center (I’m saving up to go someday so I can photograph those precious babies). A place for babies who have been abandoned because of something they never asked for – AIDS.
You’ll get to see more of my friend soon and very soon…
Love, love, love these pictures!!! Katie, you are such a beautiful young lady, inside and out.
