Early Arrival :: Nappanee Newborn Photographer

This session was just perfect, beginning to end. When I arrived she was already sleeping. She slept through a feeding, undressing, posing…pretty much everything. She was 3 weeks old when I met her, but she should still be baking inside of her mother as of today. They  were actually scheduled for a maternity session, but she came before we were able to get it in.  She developed an infection in utero, and God knew she needed to arrive early to take care of that infection. She spent about 2 weeks in the NICU, getting healthy and growing stronger. Her parents have waited many years for her arrival, and I couldn’t think of two better people to receive this precious miracle. I know they will be fabulous parents!

When I was setting up for the session, I spotted this wooden box. Then when they showed me these bonnets, I knew exactly what I was going to photograph first.

I’ve titled this next series of photos The Evolution of a Smile.

We were nearing the end of the session, when her parents asked if I’ve ever done any photos with an old suitcase. How could I refuse?
